Privacy Policy

This policy describes information collected during a visit, the reasons it may be used, and the limited circumstances in which another party may receive it. By continuing to use Plymouth County Criminal History, you accept the practices stated below.

Data You Give Us Directly

Search Queries

A name or location entered in a search tool is sent to the outside provider that operates it. That company processes the request and supplies its result. We do not keep or log those search terms on our systems.

Messages and Contact Submissions

An email may be retained long enough to review and answer it. Messages remain within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal duty.

Data We Gather Automatically

When a page loads, the server may receive routine technical details about the visit:

  • Page-view times and the pages opened
  • Device type and operating system
  • Browser name and version
  • Your device's assigned IP address
  • The referring site, when one is reported
  • Approximate time spent on viewed pages

Cookies and Analytics

Cookies are small files saved on a device. They and analytics services help combine traffic data, such as which pages are used most and where visits end. Browser controls can block cookies, though doing so may change how some features behave.

What We Do With This Data

  • Route a search request to the selected partner
  • Find and repair performance or technical faults
  • Measure which content is useful or needs revision
  • Operate the website and maintain reasonable load times
  • Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests

No Criminal-Record Data on File

Plymouth County Criminal History does not compile, maintain, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It describes official routes through the sheriff, Iowa District Court, Iowa DCI, and the Iowa Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not assembled into third-party criminal profiles or consumer reports, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.

Third-Party Search Partners

Outside companies operate the search boxes. Their privacy terms, retention periods, and sharing rules apply to information submitted through those tools. Review the provider's policy before entering a query because we cannot control its data practices.

Links to Other Websites

Links may lead to sheriff, court, state-agency, legal-aid, and third-party search websites. Once a visitor leaves this domain, the destination's privacy policy controls. Read those terms before providing personal information.

Advertising companies may use their own systems to track activity across websites for targeted ads. We do not operate that tracking.

Who Might See Your Data

We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:

  • Analytics providers measuring traffic and performance
  • Search partners processing a query submitted to their tool
  • Advertising networks serving content on the site
  • Government or law-enforcement bodies acting under a valid legal order

How We Protect Your Data

Reasonable, standard security practices are used for information under our control. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access will never occur.

Users Under 18

This website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If such information is identified, it can be requested for deletion.

Your Data Rights

Applicable law may provide additional rights. Iowa's Open Records Law, Iowa Code chapter 22, governs public records held by government, while Iowa Code §692.2 controls DCI criminal-history dissemination. Those laws do not turn this private site into a government records custodian. For information we hold, you may:

  • Request deletion of your personal information
  • Ask what personal information we retain about you
  • Seek correction of inaccurate information
  • Opt out where a particular form of processing allows it

Updates to This Policy

This policy may be revised. A replacement takes effect when posted here with its new effective date, so visitors should review the page for changes.
