1. What This Website Is

This private reference website operates independently from every government agency. It does not keep official records, retrieve government files, conduct an official background check, or submit a filing on a user's behalf.

Its material identifies custodians and resources relevant to Plymouth County, including the sheriff, Iowa District Court, the Iowa Department of Public Safety Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), and the Iowa Sex Offender Registry. Official access remains subject to laws such as the Iowa Open Records Law, chapter 22, and the criminal-history dissemination limits in Iowa Code §692.2. Links may also lead to outside tools that can assist with research.

2. Rules for Using This Site

As a condition of access, you must not:

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Plymouth County Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA. It does not prepare background checks, credit reports, or any form of consumer report. Its advertising partners likewise do not offer tools intended to evaluate applicants for jobs or rentals, set insurance rates, or assess creditworthiness. You agree that neither website information nor linked tools will be used to:

• Determine eligibility for a license, permit, or public benefit
• Make an employment or termination decision
• Evaluate a renter or other housing applicant
• Assess creditworthiness or calculate an insurance premium
• Carry out any other use governed by the FCRA

When a background check is needed for a regulated purpose, obtain the proper product from Iowa DCI or a screening provider that complies with the FCRA.
